Owning Our Beauty

In just a few days, we’re excited to host our first #LAMIKChat on Twitter! On Monday, June 15^th,2020, we will have a twitter chat on the topic of ownership is the Black Beauty Community. Since conversations and protests began over the death of George Floyd, there has been a powerful increase to support black-owned businesses. Did you know that African-Americans spend $1.2 trillion each year, and that number is projected to rise to $1.5 trillion by 2021? It is shown that African Americans spend about $473 million in total hair care, $127 million grooming aids, and $465 million in skincare preparations. There are a lot of things that go unsaid and unheard when it comes to owning and supporting a black business. And that is exactly what we are going to dive into in our chat!

Our panel will talk about the strategies, the struggle, and the strength that it takes to run their own empires.
